WHAT IS PLANT BASED?

Plant-based food is extracted from plants and made up of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts and seeds.

WHAT IS MEET?

MEET is a premium plant-based protein that delivers on both taste and texture. We pride ourselves on our nutritionally approved clean label with only few ingredients.

WHAT IS MEET MADE FROM?

The ingredients in MEET are made from plants. MEET sources its proteins, vegetable oils, fibres, natural and carbohydrates from plant-based sources such as soy, peas, and Australian wheat.

HOW IS MEET PRODUCED?

MEET is produced using High Moisture Extrusion (HME) technology. HME is a combination of mixing ingredients, cooking and high-pressure volumes to create a fibrous meaty texture that cooks, taste and structurally looks like conventional meat.

IS MEET HEALTHY?

MEET is made from clean simple plant-based ingredients, without GMO’s, low in saturated fats, has zero cholesterol and is an added source of B12 and Iron. MEET is a healthy meat-free option with high protein and high fibre servings. One of our aims here at MEET is that we critique, create, and develop our products to achieve a standard of 4 - 4.5 health star rating.

WHY WAS MEET STARTED?

In 2008, Stephen Dunn started his life’s mission: to bring his love and expertise in food together with his passion for our planet to develop meat-free MEET that’s good for you, good for the environment and accessible to all.

More recently, his son Matt has joined the business, a former Olympic swimmer who had long seen the benefits of good nutrition to maximise physical and mental performance. His philosophy continues to be good balance, great taste and enjoyment which is at the heart of MEET.

WHAT KIND OF PROTEIN IS USED IN MEET?

MEET currently uses soy and Australian wheat proteins. MEET products are high in protein, low in saturated fat, contain zero cholesterol, good source of fibre.

ARE MEET PRODUCTS GLUTEN-FREE?

MEET products currently contain Australian wheat, containing gluten.

DO MEET PRODUCTS CONTAIN GMOS?

All MEET products are all non-GMO verified.

ARE MEET PRODUCTS SOURCED FROM LOCAL INGREDIENTS?

MEET is an Aussie made and owned family business based in Sydney, Australia. We make our products in Sydney and over 70% of our ingredients are sourced locally. One of our many values is supporting Australian farmers.

CAN YOU FREEZE MEET PRODUCTS?

Yes! MEET Frozen pouches can be stored frozen. If thawed, do not refreeze. After defrosting products can be store at 4°C and consumed within 3 days.  

The MEET Chilled range needs to be refrigerated below 4ºC, do not refreeze, refer to pack for Use by Date.

ARE MEET PRODUCTS HALAL?

Yes! All MEET products are Halal suitable.  

HOW LONG WILL MY MEET STAY FRESH?

Store MEET Frozen range in freezer at -18 degrees, if thawed, do not refreeze. After defrosting, product can be stored at 4 degrees and consumed within 3 days. 

When stored correctly at 4°C, MEET chilled range should be consumed within the use by date, refer to the pack.

IS YOUR PACKAGING RECYCABLE?

Yes! We take responsibility for helping to create a sustainable future for the next generation. All of our retail packaging is recyclable, either through kerbside collection for our trays and sleeves, or through the REDcycle return to store program for our frozen pouches. We are committed to continual improvement. Currently we are resizing our pouch to keep the same quantity inside but reduce the amount of material used by more than 8%. Our aim is to further develop to where we have plastic free packaging.

WHAT SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES DO MEET FOLLOW TO LOWER THEIR ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT?

At MEET it is our priority to reduce our environmental footprint, our factory runs off of solar power, eliminating greenhouse gas emissions. We are continuously improving our packaging materials, reducing the use of plastic where possible while maintaining Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code.

HOW DO YOU RE-BUILD MEET WITHOUT GENETICALLY MODIFYING ANYTHING?

We produce MEET through heating, cooling and pressure which creates fibrous texture and a replicated conventical meat appearance.  We source our protein, fats, minerals, and carbohydrates from plants. Then we add minerals, vegetable-based colours and natural flavours to create juicy, nutritious and delicious products.
